Unicorn Fukr has firmly grabbed the attention of Louisiana's electronic dance scene, and not just because of his unusual name – or his accompanying stuffed mythical mascot that attracts dance enthusiasts and kidnappers alike. Born in Chicago, with a family from Norway and roots in South Louisiana, Unicorn Fukr’s eclectic background is as diverse as his interest in electronic music, which began at the young age of 6. Best known for spinning deep, tech and funky house, as well as dubstep, Unicorn Fukr’s repertoire also includes minimal, techno, jungle, drum & bass and electro/indie dance. His talents and enthusiasm earned him spots with the esteemed Kinetic Productions and Louisiana Dubstep crews and made him one of the state’s most sought-after DJs.

Unicorn Fukr’s busy schedule includes regular events and residencies in New Orleans and surrounding areas, including: Dirty Disco, a monthly Baton Rouge event, since 2008; Swamp Wamp, a former bi-monthly Lafayette dubstep event, 2008-2010; Kompression, a monthly house and techno event, since 2010; Bass Church, a dubstep weekly, since 2010; and a weekly residency at Club Ampersand in 2011. These regular commitments are only a few things that fill his calendar, as he also has appeared on featured shows from Austin, Texas, to Tampa, Fla. He’s shared the stage with revered artists such as Christian Martin, Matthew Dear, Doc Martin, Terry Mullan, Pete Dafeet, Jay Tripwire, Stacy Kidd, Johnny Fiasco, Brett Johnson, Pete Moss, Demarkus Lewis, Tanner Ross, and Atnarko, as well as Mary Anne Hobbs, Distance, 12th Planet, Rusko, Nero, Excision, Datsik, Evol Intent, Noah D, SPL, Mochipet, ill.Gates, Joe Nice, The Gaslamp Killer, Eskmo, Daedalus, Tipper, Kraddy, AK1200 and many many more!

As a DJ and promoter, Unicorn Fukr has helped to promote South Louisiana’s close-knit dance community, in part through the weekly Antipop Radio Show on 91.1 FM KLSU (2008-2009) in Baton Rouge, as well as through booking and promoting local, national and international talent with Kinetic Productions. Along with his cohorts in Louisiana Dubstep, Unicorn Fukr has also been hard at work establishing what is now a thriving dubstep scene and as part of the Louisiana Dubstep crew, he is credited as being one of the local pioneers of dubstep and bass music.

With his passionate commitment to the music scene, Unicorn Fukr has gained a reputation as one of the friendliest and hardest working DJs in Louisiana and ranks among the region's best. It is clear the future is bright for this young and talented DJ, whose sets radiate the same passion and positive energy that he does.

Rekanize (aka Donovan Fannon) (New Orleans, LA)
Kinetic, Defunct Phenomenon

Rekanize is well aware that writing about oneself in the 3rd person is a painful habit that one should try to avoid as much as possible.
Rekanize (aka Donovan Fannon) was an awkward youth in the suburbs, attending the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts when the mid 1990s rave scene hit. Eagerly adopting what shreds of club-kid culture happened to filter down into New Orleans, he tried his hand at DJing, evolving from popular styles and genres until focusing on Gabber, Jungle & Drum and Bass. It was in this particular niche that Rekanize found a comfort zone and an outlet for his deepening odds with the New Orleans rave scene at large. His ritual was DJing for the long running weekly Outer Bass, with the DJs that would form the core of the crew Below C Level. (which was a name he had been using as an as-of-yet unmaterialized collective affiliation.) Rekanize was considered “unconventionalist” focusing on the increasingly more experimental and rougher fringes of electronic music (such as IDM, Breakcore, and Glitch.) Never one to shun emerging tech, he's a fond proponent of MIDI controllerism, currently mixing everything from glitchy midtempo to minimal to filtered funky disco loops. When not DJing, he can be found photographing the rest of the show: http://donovanfannon.com/
